““Rue Britannia” was a hyperliterate “Licence To Ill.” “The Singles Club” is “Paul’s Boutique,” but hopefully without being a complete commercial disaster. Or “Rue Britannia” was the steely Daft Punk’s debut, while “The Singles Club” is the rampant playful experimentation of “Discovery.” I fear the concept album answer may be the closest to it — in which case, the comparison I’d reach for would be the first two Streets albums. Man, I could play this game all day, and be no nearer to actually giving a workable answer.”

The first full interview about Phonogram 2 goes live over at CBR features the pair of us waffling on. Well - it features Kieron waffling on, and Jamie being acerbic. Same as it ever was, really. But still - the best existent one-stop-shop for an overview of the second series.

And, most importantly, features the first four uncoloured pages from the comic. Purty, y’know. PURTY.

CBR lobs up the solicits of Phonogram 2, which reads like this…

PHONOGRAM 2: THE SINGLES CLUB #1 (of 7)
written by KIERON GILLEN
art & cover by JAMIE McKELVIE

The critically-acclaimed Phonogram returns with seven issues of stand-alone Phonomantic stories, each set in the same night at a single nightclub. First up, Penny B wrestles with the big questions: Will she get the boy? Will the DJ play her record? Why was her gin and tonic so expensive? In a world where music is magic, she’ll discover just how deep shallow actually gets. Plus: Two complete back-up stories featuring guest artists MARC ELLERBY (Love The Way You Love) and LAURENN McCUBBIN (Rent Girl).

And looks like this…

But you know that, yeah?

This means that you can ask your fine comics retailer to order you a copy of the creature. And we beg (if you’re dominant) and order (if you’re submissive) or whatever one you’re feeling today (if you’re switch) you to do so.

Other news - well, there’s a CBR interview which should be online later today, which is a load of fun. Also, we should have the actual preview online next week, to push you towards actually doing that aforementioned ordering thingy. Seriously, ordering is awesome. We strongly recommend it.
