“We will trap you in our nets. When you’re crying in your beds, you’ll hope we haven’t finished with you…”
Since solicitations times approaches apace, we had to sort out a cover. And lo! we spent days discussing polka-dots and created what we predict will be the pinkest cover of 2008.
If it doesn’t come across, Club Flyers are the theme this time. But if it doesn’t come across, we’ve buggered it up completely, in the true Phonogram manner. Oh - and the text is completely readable in a club-flyer-esque fashion when printed out as a physical artifact. No, really. Trust us.
What else has been up? Well, Kieron did a short interview over at Gonzo Punk to sort of ease into the ‘orrible PR machine. Worth noting to any gentlefolk of the press that if you want to have Kieron spew invective and possibly even just spew at you, do get in contact. We have things to say.
While the twitter is going well, if you need more phono-chat in your life, we’ve started to massage our forum into life. There’s a variety of threads seeded there, and do feel free to start your own. Go chat.
“One More Time! We’re gonna Celebrate. Oh Yeah! Don’t stop the Dancing…”
Back from San Diego and inching back into life. Kieron got broken by having to run off to another conference and Jamie got broken by finishing his art for the forthcoming videogame Kudos 2. And then we went out to Poptimism last night, and just got broken for the hell of it.
Main thing to debut at San Diego was the postcard, our one-sheet intro to Phonogram 2: The Singles Club. You may have seen it in Lying In The Gutters , as we kinda leaked it accidentally-on-purpose to Rich, but you may not have. And if you haven’t, let’s put that right, right now:
Click to make bigger. And, please, distribute the hell out of it, wherever you think people who may be interested are around. Which we know some of you have done already, and we salute you as brave and oddly beautiful people.
In other news, Kieron’s first work for Marvel came out this week. It’s called newuniversal: 1959 and is kind of a James-Ellroy-does-Superheroes one-issue stand-alone spin-off of Mr Ellis’ newuniversal. People seem to like it.
Oh - and those who couldn’t get to San Diego will be pleased to hear that we didn’t actually sell out of the T-shirts, and we have some left. We’ll be sorting out mail order options in the next couple of weeks and update here when we know. They look terribly splendid. Other forthcoming phonodistractions include us actually making our Image forum a fun place to hang out and possibly a moment-by-moment record of Kieron’s unbearding. Or maybe not.
